About Me

Music the ultimate universal language.
Music has been a bridge to the world for me. Let me share a little bit about what I mean.
My Background
I grew up on a farm. Still, my Mom knew piano lessons would be a great educational tool, so I began around age 7, continuing with brass instruments in the band, guitar accompaniment for kids groups, singing in choral groups, and studying music composition in college. I had no idea that I would end up sharing my love of music all over the world in places like Brasil, Kenya, Costa Rica, Ireland, and England, but that is exactly what happened. And in turn, my world back in the U.S. opened up in ways I never could have imagined.
My Approach & Philosophy
Because everyone sees and perceives the world in different ways, the way we learn is just as varied. It is my goal to understand the way each student learns so that together we can maximize the learning experience. Setting particular learning goals is important, too. Some students really want to learn theory, some want to learn ear training, some want to pursue a music career, and some just want to learn enough to play their favorite song. I’m open to all of it.
